I was looking at dinosaur images and Tony Diterlizzi's blog (he's doing a series on dragons) and this sort of came out. I should also note that I've been poring over James Gurney's blog a good bit too.

I'm calling it "complete"

No actually I'm calling it "The Assessment". But, I'm also saying that its done. I don't know that its actually done, more like I'm walking away. Either way I'm mostly happy with it although I'm sure I could take it further. .

What's That?

Here's another dragon from the same style/story as the last one. Did I mention that I love drawing dragons? I'm in progress painting the last one that I may rename to be "The Assessment".

First Day of Orientation

I think that's a good title for this. As I was sketching it I kind of got the feeling that this was the first meeting of a new recruit with his training instructor as a "Initiate of Her Majesty's First Dragon Reconnaissance Wing", or something along those lines. I didn't intend for it to take on a martial feel but I liked the idea of starting a "pilot" to train with his mount from an early age. But, as this dragon looks a little past his prime he might be a liaison in the early stages long before a recruit would ever take to the air. There's a story here that might be nice to pursue.

Anyway, I really like where this is going and fully intend to put a good deal of time painting/coloring it.

The Missus

So, my beautiful and brilliantly talented better half has begun her own blog. She has gotten quite into crocheting over the last year or so (no, she's not 73) and has started posting her blankets and such on the aethernet for all to appreciate.
