Shark!!

This started as a rejected logo sketch that I liked a lot. Painted in Photoshop, linework in Illustrator.

half a sketch

trying for a more realistic feel to show some shadow and dimension. Not sure if I got it or not. No reference, trying to think of something to do for Halloween. Not really the style I've kind of been cultivating but that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it?

Dragon Slayer sketch

I sketched this yesterday. I was thinking of a boy who sees himself as a big bad dragon slaying knight but in reality is a small bookish boy who daydreams a lot. This isn't exactly what I was going for in the drawing but I still like it none the less.

Mike Wieringo 1963-2007

I just read on his site this morning. I can't believe it. Mike's been one of the artists that I followed closely since returning to art. He has been the first blog of my daily blog stroll for some time now. His website showed a side that most artists (people for that matter) are never brave enough to show. And he put his opinions, fears, doubts right out there next to his incredible talent every day.

My deepest condolences go out to his family. Comfort lies in the fact that he is in a better place now.

Rest in Peace Mike, I wish I had gotten the chance to meet you.

Just putting this out there. . .

I don't know how many people look at this blog but I have a question. I've recently found a school that offers online MFAs in Illustration and am curious if anyone has any input on whether or not it would be worth my time. The school is the Academy of Art University.

Does anyone have any ideas, experience, etc regarding this school?

Thanks!

Pixie - in green

Ok, so I need to find a more original background. . . I know it. But, I like how this quick painting came out.

Ogre

I quickly painted one of the sketches below. And its a very Florian Satzinger inspired paint job I must say. . . . But I love the simple backgrounds that he puts on his amazing characters.

Dragony thing

I always tell Angel that when I can't think of anything to draw I draw dragons. Here's one.
