Buck Rogers!!

Wow, haven't posted in a while! Not to make excuses but I've been working on some commissions that have kept me from personal stuff. But, I found time to squeeze one in. I've kind of been in a retro sci-fi mood lately.

So, here's a Buck Rogers that I think is finished.

Yo Joe!

I finished this late last week but didn't post as I was getting some good critique from the drawingboard.org. So, I think I'm now ready to put it down and get back to a couple of commissions. I started this right after the VP debate but being as slow as I am it took over a week to finish.

Pretty pleased with it.

This day in History. . .

So, I was looking up what things happened on September 25th throughout history today and I saw that Revolutionary War Hero Ethan Allen was captured by the British as he led an attack on Montreal (so sayeth the NY Times). So, I thought I'd see what he looked like and maybe do a caricature of him. I could only find one picture on Google image search and wouldn't you know it, he was a pretty goofy looking guy. So, here's my take. . .

Oh, and also this day in history - I was born. . .

Hank

a sketch from today of Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson. He's embarrassed by the U.S. economy and the fact I did a caricature of him. . .

Audrey Hepburn

I did this one over the last couple of days. It is for a caricature jam over at the Drawingboard.org. I dont' think I quite got the likeness but its my first female caricature so you gotta start somewhere!

Bully!!

I just finished this caricature of TR last night. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Not as pushed as I'd like for a caricature but the rendering came out better than I thought it would.

All Photoshop from start to finish. Several reference pics used.

Chief Long in the Face

I'm pretty please with how this one turned out. I was going for a weathered daguerrotype kind of feel. I referenced a few old portraits for this but didn't really try to make it look like anyone in particular.

All Photoshop.

Viking!

I'm calling him "Sven the Sublingual".

He only loses the ability to talk after the second barrel of beer!
All Photoshop from sketch to finish.

Finished him a week or so ago and forgot to post!

Angel

Here is a portrait that I painted of my wife for her birthday. She's the most beautiful woman and I love her more than anything. I thank God that she married me, I'm a very lucky man.

Happy Birthday Sweetie.

Love,
Ian

I am the worst blogger ever. . .

I haven't posted anything in well over a month!
well I've been trying more caricatures. Everytime I feel like I'm exaggerating the crap out of the subject but by the time I'm mostly done it doesn't look very caricaturey at all. So, who can guess who this is supposed to be?
Can't tell? I'm not surprised. . . He was recently awarded an Academy award and also starred opposite Tom Hanks in last year's best movie (in my opinion).
